Do you need to speak a foreign language?

When traveling to Italy to get married, you don’t need to worry about not knowing the language, as I will be by your side throughout your stay. I can assure you that Italians aren’t exactly known for their perfect English, but they always “respond” to every question with expressive gestures and warm, genuine smiles.

The ABCs of Civil Marriage

The main documents required for a civil marriage are birth certificates and a certificate confirming that there are no obstacles to your marriage. You can obtain this certificate from the civil registry office in the city where you are registered. The documents must be translated into Italian and legalized with an apostille issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Preparing these documents takes only a few weeks.

The ceremony is conducted in Italian, during which I provide interpreting services. Please note that sometimes additional requirements may arise depending on the municipality’s regulations — but you can leave this matter to me. I’ve been living in Italy for 23 years and know the intricacies of Italian bureaucracy very well.

The ABCs of a Church Wedding

The sacrament of marriage is most often performed by a Lithuanian priest. The premarital questionnaire and other required documents, together with your parish priest’s permission to marry, are sent to the Italian diocese to which the chosen church belongs. In Lithuania, this process is handled by the diocesan curia. You should contact your local parish for these documents. The preparation of this documentation usually takes 4–6 months. Not all churches in Italy include the reading of the civil code during the wedding ceremony, which would make it legally binding as a civil marriage. However, we will discuss all these details individually with each couple.

To summarize the topic of the required documents for marriage in Italy, I want to emphasize that I will answer all your questions depending on whether you have chosen a civil or church wedding, and I will guide you through the process so that this “dark and intimidating forest of paperwork” becomes an enjoyable walk for two.

Important! Whether this is your first wedding or a wish to renew your vows for an anniversary, we invite you to enjoy a very popular SYMBOLIC CEREMONY, which requires no documents at all.

Wedding dinner

Together, we will create the kind of wedding celebration you’ve always imagined:

a luxurious event with live music, just for you, in one of Italy’s most famous yacht clubs;
an intimate dinner in lavender fields accompanied by the melodic background of birdsong;
a lounge bar under the open, starry sky;
a traditional village winery or a modern wine cellar;
a majestic terrace suspended above the blue of the sea or a lake.

Organizing the festive menu with full attention to your wishes is my expertise. I can assure you that “in Italy, no one has ever gone hungry.”

In Italy, the celebration often begins with the ritual of enjoying an aperitivo. No other European country can boast aperitivo traditions quite like these. In Italy, the aperitivo is a cherished moment — a joyful way to spend time with friends, savoring drinks and delicious regional appetizers, all while embracing the unhurried rhythm of *bella vita*.

Organizational wedding details

For couples interested in getting married in Italy, I offer a full range of services related to the celebration — from welcoming you at the airport to arranging transfers to your accommodation. I also provide recommendations for hairstylists, makeup artists, professional photographers and videographers, as well as car rental services. And what’s a celebration without music? I’ll be happy to arrange beautiful live music to accompany you in the church or during your wedding dinner. Or perhaps you’d prefer to dance by the pool with a DJ?

It’s also important to know that I frequently visit Lithuania and always make sure to meet the couples personally.

Festive attire

In most cases, couples take care of this aspect themselves, but in Italy, I offer ironing, cleaning, and other garment care services. Upon request, I can also refer you to wedding attire designers in Lithuania. When transporting wedding garments, I recommend investing around €40 for a separate suitcase (depending on the airline) and not forgetting to use professional wedding garment care services.

Price

The total cost of a wedding depends on the chosen season, region, venue, number of guests, and other details. As you may know, July and August bring not only the hottest temperatures but also the highest prices. The most recommended months for a wedding are April, May, June, July, September, and October.
